This painting is part of my Habitats > Heath series. It’s a watercolour on cotton paper.

Snake 1 was inspired the Red-bellied Black Snake that lives at Double Island Point Lighthouse in the Cooloola National Park, north of Noosa. One day, I saw it slide across the grass. It was winter so it went quite slowly, seemingly enjoying the warmth of the sun. It silently disappeared under the lighthouse keeper’s cottage.
