So wondrous wild, the whole might seem. The scenery of a fairy dream. by Kerry Inkster

Inspired by the legends of King Arthur I wanted to capture the wondrous alternate universe of “The Lady of the Lake”. Drawing upon medieval literature and mythology, the Celtic goddess is said to lay just beneath the surface of the lake, appearing at times of need for the side of Good. Named after a line in Sir Walter Scott’s poem, ‘The Lady in the Lake’, I’ve used a contemporary approach using techniques such as expressionism and pop art to capture her in contrasting colours of teal and orange, along with cool greens and ocean blues. In this rectangular composition of an underwater world, the light highlights her face and her dress as she floats just under the surface.

In this painting I’ve used professional quality artist acrylics and mediums. The professionally stretched canvas is fitted with a wire and two D rings and is ready to hang.
