Something Blue, an original, contemporary mixed media abstract painting. As an artist, I have a deep affinity for working with blue and for this project, I let my instincts guide me. Blue emerged as a natural response. The colours seemed to flow from one another organically, creating a sense of spontaneity and freedom in this large abstraction.

The meaning behind blue, is close to my heart, that of loyalty going hand in hand with resolute commitment and faithfulness in relationships. Blue is considered a calming colour that resonates with stable, long-lasting relationships. Silver leaf is intentionally added to the love hearts as silver leaf is a representation of purity, gentleness and endurance, qualities that can be found in truely loving relationships.

The painting title, Something Blue looks to the tradition when brides in Western cultures often wear something blue on their wedding day, as the saying goes: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and sixpence in her shoe.
