Street Icon 224 by Brendan Walsh

Urban POP ART mixed media painting by Cold Ghost.

Posters from the street, recycled into Artworks for the home.

This original artwork is made using Recycled Street Posters & it takes inspiration directly from Graffiti Art in City Laneways and Billboards.

The main collage was built up with vintage  posters collected off the streets of both Sydney & Melbourne. This background was then overlayed with Acrylic Paint, Sugar Spray Packs, Stencils, Paint Pens and Pencils.

“Then the main Image of the Mary was then added and given a rustic appearance with further Paint and Paper.”

The Artwork comes Framed in Black and ready to hang, and it is mounted under a clear acrylic sheet.

This artwork has a textured finish created by built up layers, paint splatters and torn paper, a visual effect mimicking the look you would see in the street where this effect is created over time. These imperfections are part of the overall look and feel of the finished art.

This work is also inspired by Mexican Art and Outsider Art, and has Elements of Religious Iconography, Advertising and makes a comment on Pop Culture and the modern world.
