Sunset Drive by Sam Askin

On a regular drive home from work, I passed the most incredible sunset on the motorway. I only had a few seconds to take it in and managed to get a quick shot as I drove by (shhh!). The shift from blue to orange and yellow, the high contrast with the cars and barriers lining the road, the protruding signs and light poles, the way the sun bounced off objects on the ground and clouds in the sky. I have never seen a sunset like it. The photo I took was so blurry as I drove by, but lended itself perfect for adapting with pastel. I played with the light and colour in layers of dark, light, dull and bright until this piece gave the same atmosphere of that afternoon drive. I love how the roughness and clashing of colours reflects the fleeting moment that you can be exposed to with a scene like this.
