Additional Information

This original acrylic painting is painted over a patchwork of colour, which I had initially painted experimentally  and is used as a primer for this subject.    It is in a large square format using acrylic paint and universal medium.

The scene is influenced by a travel experience, in which I had seen in an abandoned village (Kuldhara, Rajasthan), which is near Jaisalmer in India, which is supposed to be haunted.

The Brahmins fled the village over 400 years ago, supposedly because of an earthquake.

The passageway I saw was uncannily empty except for a few monkeys. The sun was hitting the walls in a rhythmic pattern creating a motif of light and dark and I have added the figure of a girl heading towards the door at the end of the passage.  This is to draw the viewer’s eye into the centre of the painting.

It is painted in acrylic paints and universal medium.   I have initialled it on the lower RH side and it is signed on the back.

It is ready to hang with wire and D rings – or could be framed.
