‘Sword Fern Moment I’ was inspired by the native Australian sword fern or nephrolepis obliterata. This beautiful terrestrial fern can be found in rainforest regions in north eastern Australia and into New Guinea.

Painted with a dark and moody palette inspired by the shadowy understory in which this fern is found, ‘Sword Fern Moment I’ creates  a deeply contemplative space. Finished with rubbed back black pastel the work is both rich and textural in its finish.

‘Sword Fern Moment I’ works in harmony with its sister pieces, ‘Soft Bracken Fern Moment I’ and ‘Wait-a-while Moment I’ forming an intriguing interior landscape when hung together.
