Additional Information

Symphony by Sarah Walker – I have been continuing my exploration of painting music. Previously I’ve painted my own musical compositions however this time I decided to paint one of the great classical musical composers. I chose Rachmaninoff, specifically “Prelude in G Minor, Op 23 no 5” the Alla Marcia.

I’m learning to play this piece and during this process I’ve found parts of my personality reflected in the music. This piece is one of contrasts, marches, floating music, love and doom and gloom, and love again. It ends on this wonderfully frivolous little note that at first seems at odds with the rest of the piece but upon further listening you wouldn’t want to finish it any other way. I too have a soul that’s filled with love, doom, gloom, joy, despair, and frivolity. A seeming brash contrast. I aim to find the frivolity and joy throughout it all, and hopefully finish my life at the end with a wonderful little final, fun, trill, to complete something beautiful!
