This whimsical set of shell teapots is an original small sculpture. My sense of humour often leads me to make non–functional and comical versions of teapots which play on the function, form, process and place.

I have chosen to make the tiny shell teapots in porcelain, as the name porcelain in English, comes from the old Italian porcellana (cowrie shell) because of its resemblance to the translucent surface of the shell.

The contrasting rough clay framework reflects the breeze block walls often found in Australian beach homes.
