Teacher’s Pet by Rosemary Legat – This unique original piece, was inspired by a Judy Woods Art For Good Workshop where we started with dark bases.

Acrylic paint, acrylic ink, ink pen and collage on 300gsm mixed media paper.

With Teacher’s Pet I started with a dark black base which I quickly layered with different mediums and colours to partially cover, or enhance, in other areas. Depth and interest created with the application of further layers of paint, markings and sgraffito.  Rather than keep this piece totally abstract I started to adhere vintage ephemera pieces to start to create a visual story.  I continued to add ephemera, glazes and sketched details to provide intertwining visual delights until I was satisfied with the woven story I had created.

I love the look and feel of artwork which uses vintage ephemera, along with the recycling aspect.  I also find it a lot of fun to create.

Teacher’s Pet requires framing to hang.

Signed on the front.

Please check artwork dimensions as in situ artwork images, which include framed examples, are for display purposes only and may not be to scale.
