Terra Firma 4, Rising Sun, View from Orielton Is my 4th large Landscape painting in my Terra Firma series where I respond to my environment it has been evolving over the last few months. This is the same view from my back verandah that I used for the 1st Terra Firma.  This time an early morning view as the night slipped away and the suns orange glow spread over the land. Capturing a moment in time as a fleeting presence of light and energy. Creating a glowing, bold and strong artwork that radiates .As I have gotten older I have been drawn to and finding hills to be inspiring, in particular the crests..especially when they wear a crown of trees, alone but grounded seemingly full of self importance and confidence. In my mind as I paint and connect with these hills I am in fact grounding myself and gaining confidence as I, “Climb a  Lonely Hill” ! (title of a Lilith Norman book I read as a child). Maybe painting these Hills is my survival mechanism in these uncertain times. The initial inspiration for this series was loosely influenced by Fred Williams’ Upwey landscape of 1965.

Painted in quality Atelier acrylic paints ,this artwork had been created on quality 12oz unstretched canvas meaning that it would be posted to you rolled in a tube. Please note that the actual measurement of the painting is 176x121cm but I reduce the size to allow for the stretching process. Ready for you to have it framed to your taste or stretched if you desire.
