To make the top of this piece I have used a textured board created using tiler’s glue. As the glue starts to set I add textures and scrape through the glue.  Clay slabs, when rolled and pressed over this surfaces and pulled away reveal the textured and relief surface.  The base has been wheelthrown.  The Vase is finished with both gloss and matt glazes creating further contrast.

This piece also reflects my ongoing experimentation with contrasts and contradictions in clay, from rough to smooth, gloss to matt and light to dark
