Additional Information

The Bearer by Chris Winer –  is an original oil on canvas.

For this work I painted over a work originally from my first Sydney Solo exhibition. The works were a set of three of Maja, my wife and muse under the titles The Three Graces inspired by the works the artist observed whilst visiting The Louvre in Paris which houses several sculptures related to the Three Graces, goddesses of charm, grace, and beauty in Greek mythology. The face on the original work did not do justice to Maja’s beauty and focus.

Maja was in Santa Fe when I decided to rework the face after spending months sanding and repainting her body. I asked her to have one of the photographers she was with whilst visiting Georgia O’Keeffe’s studio/home to take a portrait similar to the pose in the work.

The email arrived with a more than suitable photo and now the painting, to me captures the inner strength, measure and focus of someone who is so intrinsic to my existence.
