INFLUENCE:

Travel by sea in the late 18th and early 19th centuries was arduous, uncomfortable and at times dangerous.

Men, women and children faced months of uncertainty and deprivation in cramped quarters with the ever present threat of shipwreck, disease and piracy. Very different conditions to that of todays luxurious Ocean Liners offering all the comforts of home and more.

Some of those early century sea travellers recorded their experiences on board in diaries and letters which today provide invaluable insight into their lives and their shipboard travels.

These sea journeys have been interpreted into this painting. Rough seas, rocky shore lines, dark skies and plenty of uncertainty have been captured with bold colour and plenty of texture. A truely bold painting which will command attention whoever it is hung. The textured surface gives added visual interest and depth.

SPECIFICATION:

Quality acrylics used giving long lasting rich pigmentation/lustre. Designed on acid free environmentally unbleached cotton duck, triple coated with universal primer and gallery style folded corners. Protective Matte Varnish applied to protect work. The surface of the painting has a textured surface encouraging the viewer to touch and feel the art. Painting is an original design signed by the artist.
