The Impatient Sea by Carolyne Jane

My latest work, The Impatient Sea, captures the feeling of standing by the shore when the tide has gone out and the sea seems restless, eager to return. The middle section shows the exposed rocks and corals, revealed as the water pulls back. I used loose brushstrokes and layered blues to show that sense of movement — the sea never quite still, always shifting. The white marks across the surface hint at the patterns left behind by receding waves, giving a sense of energy and change.

The warmer tones of ochre and coral bring attention to the exposed areas along the shore, where sunlight catches the rocks and seaweed. Even though the scene feels calm, there’s a quiet tension — that moment before the tide comes rushing back in. The Impatient Sea is about that in-between time, where the land and sea seem to hold their breath, waiting for the next movement

The canvas is an original piece and comes with d rings and wire ready to hang. The piece is Unframed and sides are painted in a crisp white to set off the artwork. The work is created in acrylic paint with a small touch of pastel. All work has been sealed for protection.
