Through its poetic distortion ‘The Kiss of Time’ is a visual allegory for deep time and sentient place, inviting the viewer into a state of contemplative enmeshment — where trees whisper and time breathes. Here, colour and form become vessels of memory, suggesting a world where every living thing is interwoven in the slow, cyclical breath of the earth. ‘Kissed’ by the serpent of time, a spectral green bird hovers at the edge, like a guardian spirit in an unfolding ecological myth. The hills and landforms are softened yet pulsing, revealing an animist ontology: all things are alive, all forms participate in time’s slow kiss. The ‘canvas’ becomes a site of metamorphic dreaming, dissolving boundaries between serpent and trunk, bird and leaf, sky and water.

Rooted in the Southern Highlands and drawing from Indigenous reverence and expressionist precedents, my painting employs rhythmic distortions and expressive chromatic zones to explore landscape and myth, dissolving distinctions between organism and environment, narrative and form.
