The Magic Tree – This majestic fig sits in Gregson Park in Hamilton, Newcastle. I was at a market in the park while discussing the world of art photography with a stall holder, a friend of mine. She asked me if I had ever photographed this particular tree. She told me that amongst all the magnificent 100 year old figs in the park this is the one that people choose to get married under and that children seem to flock to it. Naturally I took my camera and sat underneath it and I think if you do that you can feel its power and presence. When I returned to my friend she said ” yes.. it’s a magic tree!” I love the low key light of this portrait of an ancient guardian of the park. Limited edition. Box Framed in Tasmanian Oak. Personally signed and editioned on the reverse.
