This artwork is one of my abstract action paintings, where I just let go and allow the artwork to emerge and tell me a story. There is no pressure nor expectation of what it becomes. I really just let go and enjoy the evolution through the act of applying colour and of painting. My abstract pieces are heavily based on my own thoughts and feelings, explored through colour and design.

I created this piece as a direct response to the RU OK ? day this year.. wow.. it seemed like a particularly poignant and relevant day this year in the current climate. So many people have been affected by the Covid -19 pandemic ,in particular the Lockdowns, as a parent I have witnessed first hand the impact on our children as well as our own states of mind. As an action painting I had no idea how it would manifest. I literally wrote the words R U OK ? in the paint repetitively with a large brush. Standing back with to assess what the artwork was telling me I could see the figures seated in a circle with heads bowed,seemingly in prayer. This Artwork became my Prayer for anyone who needed it. A gentle reminder that you are not alone and it is ok to not be ok 100% of the time. This artwork would offer a gentle and loving presence to any room with its soothing blue palette. A great conversation starter or a quiet companion in a moment of reflection.
Please note that an approximately 10cm border will be lost when this work is stretched to be hung, I have cropped the image somewhat to reflect this.
