with Kathryn’s frequent model, Carmen.

Like most of her figurative work, Kathryn likes to transport the figure into an atmospheric landscape. The initial lighting setup of the figure

was the focus of an intense but filtered stream of light from above which created deep shadows, hence a dynamic contrast as if in a Caravaggio

painting.

Kathryn likes to create an edge of mystery around the model in that the work speaks to the viewer on many levels.

This impressionistic work was painted in oils and acrylic on deep gallery canvas.
