The Sandon by Geoff Hargraves – Sandon is a small village south of Yamba on the North Coast on NSW. Access to the north side of the river is from Brooms Head, however if you want to drive to the village on the southern side of the river, then you will need a 4X4 and drive along, and behind the beach from Minnie water. The Sandon River is a beautiful clean tidal river. Like the other small villages along this stretch of coast line, it has Yuraygir national Park surrounding it and the Solitary Islands Marine Park’s northern most point is the mouth of the Sandon River. Some may think its isolated, but to others, it’s heaven.
