Tickle Me Pink #Australia, is a one of a kind, mixed media artwork painted on canvas over a couple of years. The work is encrusted with glitter and sprayed with fluorescent paint. It also has silver leaf edges on the stretched canvas frame, and some collage elements. The image depicts my thoughts on the Australian economy during the pandemic. It could also be viewed as another country playing the role of, ‘The Big Bad Wolf’, attempting to undermine it’s neighbours sovereignty and freedom. My work often looks at political events that shape us and make us who we are. This work is part of an ongoing body of work begun in the early 1980’s, in which I inject humour by incorporating some of my favourite childhood cartoon and storybook characters, in a nostalgic, Pop Art inspired, soap opera.
