Transition by Olga Megele – Transition sits as a piece that belongs to my repeating theme of journeys in our lives. We are often on a precipice in life. Our journey is influenced by our choices and our reactions; however, it is not always determined by us alone. The path ahead is rarely an easy trajectory. The embedded strips of canvas are invisible barriers that were programed in us as children. They try to hold us back, they trip us up, they white ant us. Our responsibility to ourselves is to push past these barriers. For me these impediments were tied up with my ethnicity and the strictures that this put on me. I had to forge my own path, often going against my parent’s wishes. The white strips indicate fences and these are more visible barriers that we might see as opportunities to grow stronger.
This landscape contains beautiful, multiple layers of texture and colour. Truly more beautiful in real life. It glows with rich ochres, sienna, and blues. Broad confident strokes of the palette knife are evident. Texture has been created with areas of paint and strips of canvas. It is a stunning piece which has been influenced by the great tradition of Australian landscape artist.

The sides are painted in a wrap around style which makes framing optional. Ready to hang.
