Tread Softly – by Kathryn Fenton. Kathryn’s subject matter for her paintings are often imbued in nature and the landscape where the symbolic attributes of botanicals and florals play a big part along with the connotations of flowers and flesh, the softness and vulnerability of both.

With this work Tread Softly, the transparent nature of the young girls face almost like an apparition gives the impression she is intrinsically linked with the natural world, the large floral petals adorn and move through her.

The painting process is made up of several transparent layers in both acrylics and oils to create this ephemeral world and the mark making tools of charcoal, oil sticks and markers provide the fractious environment of life where beauty co exits.
