‘Twilight Silhouettes’ by Meg Shaw.

This contemporary landscape, has been inspired by the striking light in the sky at dawn and dusk. Seeing the colours ranging from oranges, reds and yellows to deep blues, purples and pinks is an unforgettable experience. It’s like a theatre presentation, in my eyes. A beautiful canvas of colours. At the same time, the hues of the land become dark in contrast.

I was inspired to paint the scene of silhouettes and twilight after a dream.

Texture-wise, the sky area is relatively smooth and has been created using bold brush strokes. The bottom section is highly textured and the rougher surface has been worked with palette knives and multiple layers of paint. The impression of trees have been made by the use of rough bristle brushes and the lines suggest spindly tree trunks. The feel is atmospheric and dramatic.

This painting is an original, contemporary landscape, semiabstract painted in environmentally friendly, Australian made acrylics. My tools are a variety of brushes, palette knives and dabbing rags. I often use my fingers, as well. The surface has been protected with a permanent sealer. ‘Twilight Silhouettes’ has been painted on stretched canvas and framed in recycled Merbau. As such, there may be minor marks on the wood that are intended to add to the character of the artwork. It comes ready to hang and measures approximately 95 x 49 x 4 cm.

The photos show the finished painting, close-ups, the frame and backing, in situ and two progress images. Please note: the situ shots are virtual and meant to show what the painting might look like hanging on a wall.

‘Twilight Silhouettes’ will be sent via Auspost with a certificate of authenticity. It will be placed in a protective crate, wrapped in recycled bubble wrap and packed in recycled cardboard.
