‘Twist’, painted by Tillian 21.6.25

In ‘Twist’, I envision a landscape as a choreography of energetic flow. It engages not only visually but somatically, beckoning towards a slower, more reverent attention. The painting does not illustrate the landscape—it becomes it, refigured as a psychic field.  Executed in a palette of earthy greens, muted mauves, spectral blues, and visceral reds, ‘Twist’ oscillates between metaphor and revelation. It pulses with ambiguous, embodied presence, rejecting literalism in favour of geomythic abstraction, a language of form that refuses to fix any singular reading.

This work aligns with contemporary ecofeminist practice, Indigenous ontologies of interconnectedness, and post-anthropocentric aesthetics. In an age of ecological crisis and estrangement from land, ‘Twist’ becomes a gesture of reconnection: a remembering of kinship between body and earth, breath and leaf, form and formlessness. It is a meditation on the sacred intelligence of matter and the mystery of continual transformation.
