Ultramarine by David Clare – Original abstract oil painting of a school of fish. Underwater scenes featuring schools of fish have inspired me for many years. I love painting them, and this painting was hidden away and forgotten about until recently. Probably due to its small size, but also because most of my fish paintings are in cooler blues such as Phthalo and Prussian Blue, but this one was painted using Ultramarine Blue… hence the title. Now, you would think that Ultramarine would be perfect for ocean scenes, but I find it too warm, so this was probably an experiment… but, it still works, and upon finding it, I was pleasantly surprised. So thought I would release it to the world.
