Additional Information

Unfamiliar grounds by Marijke Lambregtse is a mixed media painting inspired by her living for months on end in different places around the world which has brought about feelings of permanently being foreign and liking it, being a stranger and loving it. There is an unshakable sense of foreignness, of being out of place, as if she is moving through spaces that were never built with her in mind. A rootlessness. This feeling of displacement stretches into her relationship with the earth itself. The likable sense of being a foreigner in a landscape that is changing and not always for the better and also too fast, slipping away beneath her feet. Which creates often a feeling of eco-anxiety.
Marijke’s work explores the intersection of identity and ecological anxiety. The destruction of the planet feels deeply personal, a body under threat, an existence questioned. She is green in more ways than one: conscious of her impact, desperate to protect what remains, yet often feeling powerless against the tide of destruction. Her art is a dialogue between the self and the environment, a reflection on what it means to belong when the very ground we stand on is unstable.
She hopes this artwork will bring color, texture and food for discussion and decorate any wall beautifully in your precious home. Marijke used collage, made from recycled teabags, acrylic paint, oil pastels, pen and pencils on this recycled canvas.
Comes varnished and signed on the front and back with a stamp of authenticity
