‘Vioet Hills’ is an original, intuitive impression, inspired by memories of The Little Desert, Victoria – Wotjobaluk Country.

The environment I’ve tried to capture appears dry and heated, but has a subtle beauty. The imagined scene is of wispy, purple hills (with a hint of magenta) merged with brown eucalyptus trees – as if they’re one. This contrasts dramatically with the dominant white tones and hints of earth colours in the foreground.

‘Violet Hills’ is a contemporary landscape that is textured and layered. I’ve used mixed media – gesso, environmentally friendly acrylic paints, inks and charcoal to create the artwork. The feel is atmospheric. It has been finished with a permanent layer of sealer. A variety of brushes, palette knives and dabbing rags were my tools, as were my fingers. It’s painted on stretched canvas and framed in black coloured recycled pine, measuring approximately 61 x 61 cm.

The painting will be sent to you via Auspost in a case, wrapped in recycled bubble wrap and packed in recycled cardboard. As I live in rural Tasmania now, please allow a little more time for delivery. Thank you.
