I’m constantly inspired to paint by the beauty of water lillies.

One of my favourite memories as a child was a visit to the water lily pond in Adelaide’s Botanical Gardens.

Every summer Adelaide Botanic Garden’s Nelumbo Pond springs to life, with its sacred lotus flowers. (Nelumbo nucifera) .

The colours in the pond vary depending on the time of the year, and the time of the day.

At dusk the pond water becomes beautiful dark shades of blue, green, brown and purple.
