Waterlilies can suit any room in your home.

Like most of my work I start with a compositional drawing in Charcoal or Pastel. These mediums behave a similar feel to the way I work with Acrylic Paint and Medium. Using a complex layering of transparent colour, wet over dry I reach the desired colour balance and tone by using a quick gestural application of transparent glazes with very large brushes. This requires a keen knowledge of colour mixing and compatibility to reach the desired effect and depth of colour. I have developed this way of painting over more that 20 years of practice.

I usually work from a group of Photographs. Each piece is a unique one off original that has evolved from a discipline of planning and working from photos, preliminary drawings and colour studies. After my planning phase I usually work on several paintings at the same time working around the studio from one piece to the other. This allows the surfaces to dry before the application of the next layer giving my paintings better depth of colour and translucence.

Quality Materials

Transparent Glazes have been used in a unique way to give a more translucent effect. I use the best quality paints and mediums I can get to create the finish that I like and put them on beautiful fine quality linen stretched over kiln dried pine stretchers, thick edged, painted around the edges and ready to hang. The work has generously sized D hooks and cord at the back. It is Varnished twice to protect and enhance the surface.
