Wattle In The Park by Maureen Finck – I am inspired to paint by my environment, mostly nature.

Wattle trees feature beautiful happy yellow blossoms, and indicate the arrival of Spring. These delightful trees are found in abundance in our suburban gardens, and urban  parks as well as nature reserves and the surrounding hills and countryside.

Australia has 1000 species of wattle and Australia’s national floral emblem is Acacia pycnantha, the Golden Wattle.

Many parts of the wattle tree are used by Australia’s indigenous population.  The seeds are ground and made into damper.  The bark and leaves provide medicines, and the wood can be used to make weapons.
