What Might Grow? by Tracey Hewitt

There are 21 yellow circles in the underpainting of What Might Grow? – one for each life lost in yet another school shooting in the USA. Some remain visible, others are tucked away under the white overpainting. This piece feels like a prayer for hope – a longing for something better to grow from the remains of the sorrow.

The background layers were created with expressive smears and splashes of acrylic paints and inks, and marks made with oil pastels, all of which were then overpainted with the abstract botanical form.

Framed. Ready to hang with d hooks and hanging cord
