Like many artists I am inspired by my environment, including the landscape, trees and flowers.

Paintings of the landscape can be traced back to the 4^th century in China. Although paintings from the earliest ancient and Classical periods included natural scenic elements, the landscape was often just a back drop for, e.g. a portrait. The landscape as an independent genre did not emerge in the Western tradition until the Renaissance in the 16th century.

Landscape painting encompasses a variety of natural scenes including mountains, rivers, valleys, forests, fields, and coasts. This definition was expanded in the 20th century to include urban and industrial landscapes.

There is a growing tradition of abstract landscapes that developed from the middle of the 20th century onward
