Australian Animal Portrait. A few years ago, when interstate travel was possible, I came across a cassowary in the bush in southern Queensland. I had never seen one before and was quite taken by their strange beauty. Evidently they can be dangerous but if you keep a respectful distance, they are interesting to watch. This oil on canvas painting is a portrait of one charming individual with a rather elegant casque or crown.
