The way we were by Ian Burgess – This painting satisfies my cravings for colour and my favoured palette of red, orange and purple with green and blue accents finished with intuitive marks of oil pastels.
The ‘Joy of Colour’ series, which this is part of, unashamedly features strong, saturated hues with a bold undertone of purple/blue that supports my visualisation where the blue/green accents almost ‘float’ above the surface.
Although my work has a busy vibe I like to balance tones and values into a cohesive, optimistic statement which will not overpower any room it is placed in but enhance it with a pleasing, jewel-like quality.
