She doesn’t represent every detail when painting, because it allows the viewer to fill in the blanks with their own memories, making the piece more personal to them. Using bright and specific colour combinations, she paints abstracted, almost dreamlike scenes. We all have reactions and relationships to colour and Alpana strives to bring greater meaning into her work by exploring these combinations and the feelings they produce.
