Graphite is richly textured. Connection to past memories, both as a student of science and later modelling high-jewellery for a  luxury brand, resulted in three textural artworks inspired by luxury jewellery, precious stones in this case, and the elements of the periodic table.

What I find it interesting, is this twist of nature. Both brilliant diamonds and simple graphite are made from the same element, carbon, yet they have different atomic structures.

Multiple background layers in black were applied resulting in various textures. White and metallic silver paint marks made with action painting add movement and sparkle. The finished painting was varnished with multiple coats. A modern conversation piece for years to come. This artwork was exhibited at the Art Lovers Australia Gallery SALON exhibition Melbourne.
