Post AI, Back to the Drawing Board By Cathy Gilday

I’ve had so many conversations with fellow artists of late, regarding AI and what effect it will have on artists in the years to come. Some are dead against using AI, yet others are embracing change, even if only in a very subtle way. I was thinking on the subject and wondered what will become of art in the future. Will future generations continue to look back on the old masters and their techniques with wonder? Personally, I love all genres of art but one of my all time favourites is the chiaroscuro technique, made famous by masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt and Caravaggio. This painting was inspired by the notion that after AI has changed the practice of making art as we know it now, perhaps androids might like to get their hands dirty and experiment with paint, rather than work with screens and holograms. The subject being painted, is staring back into the eyes of his creator, as she brings him to life on canvas.

Sides painted, sealed.
