Ian recently relocated from Sydney’s Northern Beaches to Lake Macquarie, where he has quickly fallen in love with the local scenery. This new environment has had a profound impact on his creative process, allowing him to explore fresh perspectives and inspiration.
A self-taught artist, Ian believes that working independently has given him the freedom to develop a unique style without the constraints of traditional influences. He embraces this autonomy, saying, “It allows me to paint the way I want without inheriting someone else’s style.”
Primarily working in acrylics with occasional ventures into oils, Ian’s art is characterized by its vibrant, dynamic use of color. Whether creating abstract or semi-abstract pieces, he is always focused on the interplay of color and value, striving to bring a sense of luminosity to his work. Through thoughtful combinations of shapes and textures, he crafts visual experiences that captivate and engage the viewer.
His recent work marks a shift toward pure abstraction, where he seeks to express underlying layers of color and fluidity. Free from the constraints of realism, Ian enjoys the creative freedom to explore new depths in his compositions, allowing the art to evolve organically.
With each piece, Ian paints from the heart, inviting his audience to experience the joy and energy of color in its purest form.
