STATEMENT:
I love to be obsessively busy in my own space painting, creating & giving life to something new – this is my happy place.
Although I have tried various art mediums over the years, I prefer the flexibility of acrylic paint and I love experimenting with mixed media on stretched canvas to see what can be achieved. I enjoy the process of blending paint with beautifully made silk-screened Japanese Washi paper, fabric or handmade textured paper and other materials into most of my pieces,.
I use art as a way of interpreting the beauty and joy I see in the world around me – with fresh mostly earthy colours,, strong line and a contemporary edge to my pieces.
I am so drawn to nature and all the beauty that can be found within it . My subjects vary from birds, fish, animal’s and botanicals to the occasional landscape or figurative idea that grabs me. I currently really enjoy creating mixed media pieces that tell a story from daily life or my travels … painting what I see as the essence of something beautiful is what motivates me.
My hope is that others will enjoy looking at the pieces I have created, as much as I have enjoyed creating them.
