“I’ve always loved colours. I see beautiful colour combinations everywhere: in the garden, in the sky, on people’s clothes, you name it. I try to express this beauty in my paintings.”
Growing up next to the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the heart of Russian art, Tania’s childhood was filled with inspiration. This continued into her early adulthood, whilst living and studying in London, where she enjoyed the plethora of galleries and museums, both there and across Europe.
As she progressed to Business Consulting, Property Development and Interior Design, then Architectural Design, Tania developed a deep connection with painting. Working as an interior designer had a huge impact on how she viewed art.
“Paintings resonate with people for different reasons: some might be looking for emotional connection, some – to fit a certain space and colour scheme. Artwork can transform spaces more than anything else. It can tie colours that you love together, it can fill the space with cosiness and warmth. This is what makes it home.”
Now living on the Gold Coast, and enjoying the vibrancy of Australia’s landscapes and culture, Tania’s latest works incorporate mixed media into her oil and acrylic work. She finds this further imbues her love of texture and layering into the rich hues of colour that remain at the core of her art.
Tania’s art is about colour and pattern. From her travels, Tania has accumulated an extensive collection of highest quality professional materials, from Rublev and Old Holland oil paints to traditional hand-made Japanese silks, designer fabrics and a variety of exquisite handmade papers. She loves sourcing out various pigments, fabrics and papers from all over the world in her search for luxurious pigments and textures.
“I guess, painting for me is a form of meditation. My flower garden is a great inspiration. All sorts of colours mix in together and create a wonderful harmony.”
