From the Series: The Colour of Time

There is a time and season for everything – I’ve been considering this thought and how colours not only create a mood but also remind us of seasons and moments in life. Some refer to the past, others point to the future and some are right here in the present. As I stood in the rainforest, the greens whispered to me to pause and listen. I closed my eyes and heard water birds paddling, wrens quickly hopping from branch to branch, rainbow lorikeets screeching and many other bird calls. I used a vintage Russian lens with the front element reversed and added macro extension tubes. This combination makes crisp focus impossible and I can travel to new worlds, feeling the essence of the leaves and the play of light. The wetland is visually busy, but the lens reveals the gentle, peaceful atmosphere of the place and reminds me of the beautiful forest paintings of the German Expressionist, Franz Marc.
