Aqueous Bloom Rock Pool Musings IV by Jacquelyn Stephens

This is an original one off, large abstract painting on a canvas ready to hang on your beautiful wall.

‘Aqueous Bloom Rock-Pool Musings IV’ continues in my fascination with the minutiae of life and aquatic themes. It belongs to my ‘Bio Bloom’ & ‘Aquatic’ Series’ exploring the sublime beauty of microscopic life and the natural world as I am deeply inspired by nature and the forces that shape it. All the amazing tiny fragments of the universe and patterns of life. Cellular forms, molecules, skins, body forms, minuscule plant growth and I can never escape the Oceans pull on me. I grew in and by the sea and the salt water seems to flow within me. Biological organisms, magnificent corals, seaweeds, algae, shell forms and all manner of sea creatures from my memories of Snorkelling around my local beaches as a child. All these things I think about, and try to make connections with, when I am creating these paintings.

‘Aqueous Bloom Rock-Pool Musings IV’ can be viewed as minuscule cell life just as easily as an underwater sea garden with drifting corals and barnacle blooms. Ultimately it is about our sense of awe and wonder at these miraculous building blocks of life. And then, our reflection on the fragility of these vulnerable natural worlds, and our place within this environment.

The organic shapes and motifs I so often use in my artworks, vary in size and shape in this painting which casually moves our eyes attention in and out of focus across the picture plane. I really enjoy that your eyes get to explore and discover subtle hidden shapes and patterns within the painted surface. Some joy for the eye and the mind.

Although the painting is mostly monochrome, black and white, there are small patches of pink, burnt orange and olive where I have just gently laid on some glazes to add a subtle tint to the piece.

What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as giving collectors walls intrigue, beauty and a talking point for years to come.

 

ALL PAINTINGS ARE VARNISHED with Professional Quality Artists Varnish, once they have been photographed. This gives a protective surface and an exquisite sheen that really makes the colours powerful & eye-catching.
