‘Aqueous Calm III’ by Jacquelyn Stephens

This is an original one off, abstract painting on a braced plywood panel ready to hang on your beautiful wall.

A contemplative, restful painting from my Aqueous Series.  An imagined view into another world where beautiful mysterious forms gently float in and out of focus. Calming on the mind and soft on the eye.

Inspired by all things big and small of the sea. The big. The tiny. The sea. The Bioluminescence. The jellyfish. The surf wash and foam. The molecules. Underwater turquoise and aqua. These things I think about and look at when I create these paintings. They can be viewed as minuscule cell life just as easily as delicate aquatic and microscopic life or floating coral blooms. I wanted these paintings to be sublime and beautiful yet also have feelings of a delicate fragility that I always find amazing and divine.

This painting has a gentle aqua blue colour vibration and sits beautifully on the wall. This is enhanced by subtle wood grain showing through the layers of glazing I have used to create the piece. The light and colour create an otherworldly tranquillity, the perfect match for the fragile fragments of nature and cell-like forms drifting across the surface.

‘I feel like I am gently floating like jelly-fish’ is a lovely comment I so often receive from this series.

What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as giving their walls a talking point and a splash of colour for years to come.
