This is a large colourful abstract painting on canvas ready to hang on your beautiful wall.

In this painting the light and dark and vibrant colour create an otherworldly tranquility. It continues with my fascination in the sublime of micro-worlds, biology and sea-life.

The big. The tiny. The sea. The surf wash and foam. The lace. The molecules. These things I think about and look at when I create these paintings. They can be viewed as miniscule cell life just as easily as an underwater garden with floating coral blooms.

In this artwork I am looking at making connections between my microscopic cellular life-forms and man-made patterns. I use lace in the creation of surface of this work as it has this rich cellular feel as well as creating a powerful visual dynamic. The beautiful delicate designs in lace are created by a similar growth pattern to life itself. Both forms grow from one central point outwards, cell-by-cell, stitch by stich as do the paintings themselves, all growing organically from one starting point, each cell form popping out from the one before. I was thinking how beautiful this is, poetically and visually, but also how it is intrinsically connected to all forms of life.

 

ALL PAINTINGS ARE VARNISHED with Professional Quality Artists Varnish, once they have been photographed. This gives a protective surface and an exquisite sheen that really makes the colours powerful & eye-catching.

The painting is on canvas wrapped around traditional wooden stretcher bars with edges that are a smart 3.5cm deep. The edges are cleaned, staple free and painted a neutral colour to compliment the painting.
