Original abstract painting that brings the comet to life on the canvas.

This vibrant, hand-painted artwork resulted from a combination of a personal interest in the topics of space along with my intuitive expression from childhood memories as I accompanied my Dad to the Observatory, to look toward a new Comet that he had confirmed.

Central to the composition, is the comet tail, which streaks across the canvas like an icy, luminous body moving at lightening speed through the universe. The comet tail is worked in neon yellow, clear blue and radiant white. Multiple layers were applied to give a textural effect.

The palette is bold and contrasting. Black portrays the infinite expanse of outer space and the spattering of white dots, represent distant stars.

Action painting and other techniques evoke the movement of the solar wind as it interacts with the comet. This abstraction seeks to depict the erratic and unpredictable journey of the comet. A captivating, contemporary abstract painting that invites you into the visually spellbinding world beyond our planet.
