Deconstructed landscape No 3 by Ian Burgess

This artwork is from my ‘Deconstructed’ collection where I abstract the landscape including its rough edges, to tap into its raw elemental power and attempt to extract the rugged beauty, then push it, with energy, into the canvas using textured palette knife gestures and oil pastel marks.

I continue my quest for expressive colour relationships contained within my need to experience the ‘Joy of colour’ which is often revealed in strong saturated hues unencumbered by realism in shape or value.

This work took some time to develop by transferring my initial random shapes and colours into a sense of place and introduce some elemental power that is over and above the mere application of paint.

Join me as we journey into the world of joyous colours in abstraction.
