Gold was a labour of love and exudes a luxurious feeling, sophisticated and elegant. The painting is richly textured with a luminous and luxe sheen. The photos, though high quality cannot describe how visually stunning this piece is in person.

Connection to past memories, both as a student in my science class and later as a model wearing high jewellery for a well known international luxury brand, resulted in three textural artworks inspired by luxury jewellery, precious metals, and the elements of the periodic table.

This artwork involved thought and effort. It was a lengthy process with three coats of gold metallic paint for the background layers.

The whole process required meticulous attention when applying multiple layers of gold leaf, sheets including out to the canvas edges. The gold leaf is not just any gold leaf, it took time to find this beautiful, elegant beige gold leaf that reflects its premium quality. Once applied the gold leaf was sealed for preservation by multiple coatings of a specific gold leaf professional varnish.

Black and a light spattering of silver paint were applied with action painting, introducing movement and structure. Finally the finished painting was twice more varnished.
