Goldfields Town Bandstand by Miranda Free – Cue in Western Australia is known for its charming buildings from a bygone era when there was gold in them thar hills (though it’s not very hilly in that region of WA). In the middle of the main street is a bandstand that undoubtedly was the podium for many important announcements that impacted the town when it was a thriving centre full of those seeking riches from the most valuable of metal. These days it is much quieter though it attracts many travellers exploring the history of the region in a remote area of WA. When on a road trip with friends I sat in the main street drawing the scene which inspired this painting of a fascinating town that still maintains aspects of its former glory days.
