During our last visit to America we were lucky enough to observe many different species of these tinny little birds. Hummingbirds got their name because of the humming sound created by their fast beating wings. The speed varies from around 12 beats per second in the largest species to around 80 per second in the tinniest of them. In bright sunlight these birds can change the colour of their feathers to become an iridescent red, blue or vivid green.

This painting of an Hummingbird is on a 30cm x 30cm square deep stretched canvas and is finished with a recycled white box frame. 2 D-rings and hanging wire are attached to the back and it is ready to hang. The ‘Hoverlay’ image shows the supplied frame.
